HIKING
Hiking in Obergurgl / Ötztal in Tyrol
Various variations from easy panorama paths to demanding alpine tours are possible in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.
Extremely attractive are the old paths which cross the border into South Tyrol. If you are interested in something special you can go along with a guide from our mountaineering school. Following hikes are possible:
- Forest and Water:
a nature guided tour through the 200 year old natural monument Zirbenwald. A great nature trail established by the alpine research center Obergurgl. Hike past the Rotmooswaterfall to the Schönwieshütte and visit the 6000 year old alpine marsh in the Rotmoostal. - Rocks:
hike into the Gaisberg- and Rotmoostal along the glacier educational trail and over the Mutsattel.
Mineral-collectors come here to find special rocks from the Ötztal. With some luck you can find something special. - Piccard:
over the Gurgler Ferner to the place where Prof. Auguste Piccard landet with his balloon in 1931. The walk takes you to the Karlsruherhütter and to the Hochwildehaus (2900 m). From the Hochwildehaus over the Gurgler Gletscher along the Ramolpath. You will find special alpine flora.
